Elements of Design: Color Lesson # 6

Below are a number of links to various artists and designers who used color and geometry to make interesting images.
  1. Click on link 1 and examine the design (artwork)
  2. Click on the back button to get back to this Blog
  3. Click on the next link.
  4. PLease look at all of the images before you begin to design.
  5. You may use any drawing instruments that are available. ( rulers, templates, compasses, french curves, etc. )
  6. PLan out your drawing with regular pencil
  7. Use color pencils to add color.

Sketching Form #5


Use the steps to create 4 or 5 different sized cubes and then practice shading them. Click on the image to enlarge. Try placing the light source from different directions in each of your cubes. Next , skecth the cylinder using the crating method and shade it. By shading an image you add depth which gives form.

You will find these shapes on pages 29,30, and 31 of your Technical Drawing Textbook. Try to use the crating method. Make your lines very light and then darken object lines in your last step

Sketching Lines and Shapes

lines, broken lines, center lines, sectioning lines, Hidden lines, projection lines, construction lines.




Shape terminology:"Crating" Polygons, irregular polygons, regular polygons, parallelograms, squares, rectangles, circles, hemispheres, hexagons, pentagons, triangles, octagons, two dimensional.
