Monday September 9: The terms related to our Portfolio Project



Monday September 9, 2013
Today’s Lesson: This is for all classes including: CEA, IED, and POE
Teaching Point (What it is we are going to do and learn)
Major: To create a system for storing your design papers during the course of the year
Supporting: To become familiar with some terms that are related to the process of making a design portfolio.

Do this Now :  Use your note book or get some graph paper from Mr. McGinty and do the following:
Note: You have 20 minutes to complete this assignment. Raise your hand when you are done so that you can be checked off.

Use a search engine to find the definitions for the following terms:

  1. Development drawing for bending and folding material like metal, paper, and plastic
  2. Line conventions: Outlines
  3. Line conventions: Hidden detail or folding lines
  4. Line conventions: Center lines
  5. Line conventions: Section lines
  6. English or Imperial linear measurement system and units
  7. Metric measurement system and units

For each definition: 

  • Write the internet source that you used to complete the definition 
  • Make a simple sketch to represent the term (i.e. sketch the lines, sketch your portfolio development, and sketch a ruler in metric and imperial)
    • Click on images to see what sorts of images appear for each term
